I've recently got an agent, who is now nudging me in the direction of edits before submission to editors. Waiting around for those was frustrating enough, I see the frustration of not knowing what is going on is going to continue! I take your advice seriously - just keep writing. Of course we know how lucky we are to have gotten here, but it's a strange limbo place of everything being the same... and totally different. I've struggled a lot this past year and a half, with writing the next book, dealing with stress and deadlines and expectations, and just learning what it really means to do the WORK of being a writer. I try to tell myself to slow down and celebrate all the little markers I've crossed :)Heather Anastasiuhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14974838585457441140noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5774363178370829558.post-83896574013805550932012-04-24T10:01:06.036-07:002012-04-24T10:01:06.036-07:00Tara, I actually have a friend who is a photograph...Tara, I actually have a friend who is a photographer, and the photo on my blog is by her. It was taken last year before I sold or very soon after, I think. But not so much as an author photo—more as an update for my blog, since I'd lost weight and changed my hair. I hope to use it for my "author photo," but that is yet another item my publisher hasn't requested from me yet! Though speaking with others, I do know that getting a photo is up to the author.Natalie Whipplehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09978251567306345129noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5774363178370829558.post-19996173348478725712012-04-24T09:56:15.796-07:002012-04-24T09:56:15.796-07:00Great post, Natalie! So appreciate the look at what it's really like after you land a deal. It's funny - it seems like there's always another hurdle to surmount after you surmount the last (seemingly impossible) one. Which I guess is just life, but it still feels unexpected or something. I wonder when/if writers ever feel like they've truly "arrived."Sarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14315988741446180628noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5774363178370829558.post-21058714075042538402012-04-21T18:51:23.617-07:002012-04-21T18:51:23.617-07:00My best friend and I just signed contracts with th...My best friend and I just signed contracts with the same publisher within weeks of one another so we are just entering this new leg of the publishing journey!
