A Little Visual Inspiration

I've never thought much of gathering visual inspiration for a book, which is strange since I'm an artist of sorts. Maybe that's why—the visuals are already in my head. But thanks to Steph Bowe, I decided to try it for Transparent, anything to get my juices flowing on that troublesome project.

So here is a series of pictures that got my heart fluttering all over again for a WIP I've hardly had love for lately:

Well, that was fun. I'm kind of excited to get back to that project soon.

  1. These almost tell a story all by themselves.

  2. I've seen a few people today do the same thing. I think it's a great idea! Really helps you visualize where your story's going and also helps show others what you're writing. Looks good, Natalie!

  5. I know, Steph! The Pop Tarts. Though Fiona would be a little perturbed that they're not blueberry. I could only waste so much time looking up pictures today...

  9. Visuals really awesome!!! I thought, looking at one, the stars won't be the same if the whole universe blows up in 2012 (lol). But pictures are always great inspiration!

  11. I'm most intrigued by the cold war/gas mask pics. That's an aspect of the story I'm unfamiliar with (or does it mean something else?).

  12. Hehe, Adam, not surprised:) It's the backstory...also the part where the alternate history/present begins.

  13. Oooo, I'm especially intrigued by the images that signal war/conflict, and the Poptarts, hahaha. Those were ones I didn't expect just based on the premise.
