I've never thought much of gathering visual inspiration for a book, which is strange since I'm an artist of sorts. Maybe that's why—the visuals are already in my head. But thanks to Steph Bowe, I decided to try it for Transparent, anything to get my juices flowing on that troublesome project.
So here is a series of pictures that got my heart fluttering all over again for a WIP I've hardly had love for lately:
Well, that was fun. I'm kind of excited to get back to that project soon.
These almost tell a story all by themselves.
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few people today do the same thing. I think it's a great idea! Really helps you visualize where your story's going and also helps show others what you're writing. Looks good, Natalie!
ReplyDeleteI am soooo going to do this. what an awesome idea!

I LOVE this post!! It's so much fun to see these and remember all of the wonderful things in your novel.
ReplyDeleteAnd the Pop-Tarts made me smile extra-big. :)
Now I need Pop-Tarts.
ReplyDeleteI know, Steph! The Pop Tarts. Though Fiona would be a little perturbed that they're not blueberry. I could only waste so much time looking up pictures today...
ReplyDeleteOkay this is the third one I've seen, including Steph's that started it all. I'm going to have to do one soon haha. These are fantastic pictures. :)
ReplyDeleteI saw Steph Bowe's post, too! All these pictures are so lovely.
ReplyDeleteLOVE!
ReplyDeleteMakes me all tingly-excited to see what you've done to TRANSPARENT. That story was so cool :D
Visuals really awesome!!! I thought, looking at one, the stars won't be the same if the whole universe blows up in 2012 (lol). But pictures are always great inspiration!
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous images. I love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm most intrigued by the cold war/gas mask pics. That's an aspect of the story I'm unfamiliar with (or does it mean something else?).
ReplyDeleteHehe, Adam, not surprised:) It's the backstory...also the part where the alternate history/present begins.
ReplyDeleteOooo, I'm especially intrigued by the images that signal war/conflict, and the Poptarts, hahaha. Those were ones I didn't expect just based on the premise.
ReplyDeleteFascinating. I've never thought of using visual stimuli. Those are some incredible photos.
ReplyDeleteBy the by, there's an award for you on my blog.

I'm stuck on that boy. He's beautiful. ♥
ReplyDeleteSay... where's everyone getting all of these pictures anyway? It can't be just Google... Is there a pretty picture website I'm unaware of?
ReplyDeleteAli, I know. Man, that boy is very special to me:)
ReplyDeleteI really want to read void! its sounds so cool!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE LOVE that first picture. So cool! Am also now hungry for Pop Tarts. Durn.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this - the images are spectacular! Can I steal??? :-)
