TRANSPARENT ARC Giveaway! #1

It's December! We're less than six months away from TRANSPARENT's release now! Finally, man. If waiting was a sport, I'd totally be at marathon level now.

Anyway, I mentioned last week on Twitter and FB that I'd be giving away about 5-6 ARCs between now and release—and the time has come to give away the first one! Ack. Gotta admit it's a little scary, sending my book out into the world. But it's time. We're both ready.

So how do you enter to possible get this ARC? Simple: Tell me how long you've been reading my blog. If you want to also tell me how you found it and why you stayed, go ahead. The winner will be someone of my choosing, but I'm not going to tell you how I'm choosing. (Please be honest—there will be lots more chances to get an ARC and I will know because I do keep track of who comments often on my blog, etc.)

I know this might not sound very fair, but this giveaway is for those crazy folks who've stuck around with me through all the rough patches, who've cheered me on through years of rejections. If I want anyone to get such an early ARC—it's one of those wonderful people.

Prize: Signed ARC of TRANSPARENT, plus any other goodies I can round up. (Still working on bookmarks, etc.)

Deadline to Enter: Thursday, December 6th. Winner announced Friday, December 7th.

  1. Natalie,
I first started reading your blog probably a year, year and a half ago. I came from Kiersten White's blog, through some drawings first, i believe. Anyway, I love your fresh, honest take on the writing process. I've never found an author's blog who was in the process like you are and it's been interesting going through the highs and lows with you. I continue to read for many reasons, but mostly because I find your honesty refreshing. Sometimes you have good days, sometimes you have bad days. But, you're always pretty up front about what your writing life looks like, and I totally respect that.

Plus, I think you're hilarious and I kinda wish I had your hair!

  2. Wow. I don't even know when I started reading your blog. I think it was a couple of years ago, when I was going through the agent-search process. Someone recommended one of your posts. I read it, loved it, and looked for others. I enjoy your honesty, and while sometimes you tell truths I don't want to hear, they're always ones I need to hear, and I love you for that. (But, you know, in a totally non-creeper, I-like-your-blog sort of way.) I don't know if you'll find many comments from me in the archives, though, because I usually read your blog on my iPod, and it's a pain to comment on blogs with mobile Safari.

  3. I've been reading your blog for about 18 months. I started following your blog after the book festival at BYU where I kept running into you and Kiersten. I tracked you down because I was curious who you were and stayed because your blog is awesome :)

  4. I don't remember how long it's been. About 2-2 1/2 years, I think, but it took a lot longer before I made a comment. I can't remember how I found your blog either, but I kept reading it because of a post about Fruits Basket, which I'd just discovered and loved.

  5. I'm pretty sure I'm not going to win, because I haven't been here long, but I want to comment anyway. :)

I started reading your blog around April, I think, and I was hooked by the combination of your thought-provoking posts (Challenging goldfish assumptions, anyone?) your writing advice (LOVE the old posts about different love stories) and just you in general. I think you're awesome.

So even though this ARC isn't for me, I'm dying to get my hands on your book sooner or later ... although I'm even more excited for HOUSE OF IVY AND SORROW, which I suspect is made of fabulous.

  6. I started following your blog about a month ago after I saw a blog post from someone featuring the cover of Transparent. I thought it was beyond gorgeous, and very different from most of the YA covers out there and decided to research it a bit more. That's when i stumbled onto your blog and found your story. I thought it was quite inspiring and started to follow you. Even if I don't win the arc, I still plan on buying Transparent when it comes out.

  7. I have no idea how long, but years. I was following Kiersten White's since before she got her book deal, and she sent me over. It was at least a couple of years after that before I saw you at a conference and learned that we've been living in the same town all this time!

  8. I started reading your blog a little before you announced your book deal.
I found your blog because someone one twitter RT'd a blog post of yours called "Make It Worse" (oh, yeah, baby, I remember!.
I then searched your archives and found lots of good blog posts about writing and waiting and querying and all around fun. The Q&A are other great piece. Plus, your drawings! Man, if only I could drawn!
All I can say is: you're inspiration, as a writer and as a person.
It's helpful when you post about your everyday insecurities and your freak outs because of incoming reviews. As writers, even unpublished or unagented ones, we all share that.
Thank you for being honest and sharing all the bumps and the throw-confetti parts of your journey with us ;)

  9. Hmm, let’s see…. I think it was around the time PARANORMALCY hit the shelves. You probably won’t find any comments by me, though, because I couldn’t do it through entering name and email address. Now that I’ve switched to a different service, I can. (I also find commenting incredibly awkward as I have a tendency to formulate things badly, but lately I’ve been trying to comment now and then on blogs in general.)
I found your blog through Kiersten White’s blog, and I stayed because I admire your perseverance and how you don’t just show the pretty parts of publishing, but the tough ones too.

  10. Oh, wow, I can't even remember *exactly* when I started reading your blog? Earliest record of a link I posted on my blog (http://owlandsparrow.wordpress.com/2010/01/18/project-edit/) was to this (http://betweenfactandfiction.blogspot.com/2010/01/stages-of-revision.html), both from January 2010. I think I'd been reading for some time before that, though. So…at least three years ago, wow. You were already represented by Nathan before I discovered your blog, though, so I know it wasn't before your announcement in Sept 2009.

I remember reading one post, and then another, and then pretty much devouring all the archives—your posts have always been full of honest, helpful advice. I also loved your book recommendations (JULIE HALPERN!!!). Later, of course, we started talking and soon you became one of my favorite internet friends. I've been inspired, all these years, by your tenacity. I'm so proud that you finally have ARCs to give away, and am thrilled at the possibility that I might have the chance to own one. :)

  11. I found your blog almost three years ago, when I first started blogging. You, Kiersten and Elana Johnson were my first introduction to the writing world. I had finished my first manuscript and was working on my second and it all seemed so overwhelming.

I read as you went from having one agent to having another, through doubts about subbing to books in the pipeline, from personal lows to highs. I've seen your posts linked and quoted and passed around and they are always honest, insightful, and inspiring.

I'm not really great at blogging now. I've taken several breaks and don't go around to blogs like I used to. My very young family makes it hard to spend the time on it that I used to. I do most of my blog reading in a reader now and your blog is in my folder marked "Always read." Any time a new post pops up, I read it, even if I don't comment.

Thanks for being a big part of my writing life and helping me know that all the ups and downs are normal.

    ReplyDelete
  12. That's a good question. It was from before Kiersten scored a book deal for Paranormalcy, but not by much. So what is that? 3 years? 4? Wow! Has it really been that long???

I'm pretty sure I ended up on your blog from Kiersten's, but I can't remember the details. I stuck around because...I don't know. Your honesty? I guess I just enjoyed the view! :)

    ReplyDelete
  13. I'll be honest, I can't remember when I started reading it, but you might know. It was the day you wrote the most honest post I have ever seen about the craptitude that is going out on submission. It was waaaay before you got the deal for Transparent.

I stayed because you're honest. You don't BS, you tell it like it is and that helps the rest of us in the same position.

  14. Just for fun, I went back and checked for my first comment. May 23, 2008.

    So, 4 1/2 years.

Does that mean I win? ;P

  15. I started reading about 2 years ago -- right around the end of 2010. I don't remember how I got here (it may have been through a comment of yours) but I stayed because I loved your voice, your drawings, and your attitude about writing and life. It's why I'm still here, even if I don't comment very much. :) One of the very first posts I remember from your page was actually a page from Transparent :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I started following really recently after hearing about Transparent through (I think) Kiersten White's blog. I'm a pretty quiet follower, but I love your posts! I know you have tons of way more devoted followers, but I still think you're great. Can't wait to read Transparent!

    ReplyDelete
  17. I first started reading your blog about three years ago. I think? I found it through Nathan Bransford's blog, though how I found his I don't remember. I had started writing longer works, and I had no idea what I was doing, even if I didn't want to admit that. I loved reading your writing posts, your Happy Writer's Society posts, and posts with your drawings; your voice, your advice, your talent... You are amazing :).

I definitely don't comment a lot, though I do read almost all your posts, including the ones that speak of jealousy and the bad things about the writing world. I am grateful to you for having the bravery to speak of those things, especially since very few people do. I don't often know what to say (and thus don't comment), because I am inexperienced, in life and as a writer. But thank you for those posts, and thank you for your advice.

Now I've started rambling, so I'll stop. And regardless of whether I win, here's a comment to tell you that I read & love your blog. Keep up the awesome work! Looking forward to TRANSPARENT either way :).

  18. Oh geez. I... really can't remember when I started reading your blog. It was probably close to... 2009? Sometime? It was Debbie/Nerd Goddess that first told me about you. I remember that we were at some book event and you were there and she was all "That's Natalie Whipple! I love her!" and I was all "Who?" And then I started all reading your blog and stuff. Ya. That's what happened.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I found your blog through Twitter when authors were posting your "What Happens When It IS You" post two years ago. It was one of the most honest blog posts I've read when it comes to writing.

I went to college for writing and one of the things my friends and I agree about is how they don't talk about publishing enough. Your post spoke of the hardships and how it is worth going through it all, even though it hurts. What I took away from it wasn't the hurt or the test of patience, but the strong belief in oneself. Even after reading your blog post, I knew I needed to keep moving on with my own writing. It helped reaffirm my love for writing. Hope was the strong word you used, and it is one of the things I believe in the most. I love how you state, "Hope's plucky like that." That is so true!

I love seeing that the next phase of your journey has begun and how things have changed in the last two years. Congrats on the upcoming books and hope to catch you on tour in San Diego!

  20. I honestly don't know. I know that I've recently started to comment, but I know I've been reading for much longer than that. I know I got here from Kiersten White's blog and stayed because I related to you, a lot. I'm not a writer at all. But the social anxiety thing, the worry thing, those posts made me feel like you reached into the screen and said "It's going to be okay Ashley. I get you"

    ReplyDelete
  21. I think I've been following at least 2 1/2 years. When I first started writing seriously, I began reading writing blogs. I found you through Nathan's blog and have been following ever since. I think at the time you were approaching your 400th follower and I thought, "Wow! That's amazing!" You've added a few more since then :)

I discovered Kiersten through your blog and loved reading about your friendship, your kids, your writing, the ups and downs of trying to juggle family and writing. Your anime characters were great and I remember when my daughter went through a stage where all she drew was anime people. I'd often show her yours. I've loved following your journey as you got to visit Nathan in SF, faced the uncertainties of changing agents, struggled with writing, and finally, got the book deal that you deserve. I've admired how hard you've worked, the great writing advice you've shared, and how honest you've been about the good and not so good aspects of the road to publication.

I can't wait to read to TRANSPARENT whether it's through the ARC or on release day. This will be one special read.

  22. I think I've been reading for about two years now. I believe I got here through Kiersten White's blog, and stayed because of your honesty. It's so nice to read about people who have been writing for a while and are finally getting the success they deserve. It's what I really want, and your entries make me believe I can get there. I also feel a bit connected to you, as we recently had babies around the same time!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Wild guess from someone with no concept of time: more than a year and a half, less than three years. I found you through Nathan Bransford, I think, but I'm not sure of that, either. And if you don't recognize my name, well--that's my own fault for not having commented more than two or three times before. :P

I don't remember if I hit the follow button to enter a contest or just because all the ninja comments made me smile, but I've stayed because you're ahead of me in the writing and publishing quest, and you seem to feel about it much the way I do. You write in a way that's thoughtful and honest and emotional and hopeful--qualities I like in a novel as well as a blog, so I've long intended to track down your books...

    ReplyDelete
  24. I started following your blog when Kiersten announced her book deal for the Paranormalcy trilogy. I followed a link to her blog on twitter, and then to here from her blog. (I honestly don't know how long ago that was. o.O)

I rarely comment, but I try to stop by regularly, and I see you on twitter a lot.

So happy for your success, and can't wait to read TRANSPARENT. :)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I started reading in May 2011 I think, so a year and a half. I was taking a creative writing class, beginning to get serious about this writing thing, and decided to check out some blogs. I found you through Kiersten White's blog, since I had read Paranormalcy and loved it. You're always so honest about everything you go through; it's so genuine and sincere. You're not afraid to talk about you fears, which is refreshing, because we all have them, but not all of us voice them. It's nice to know we all have similar feelings, even the published authors. And I am SUPER excited for TRANSPARENT!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Wow. I want to say it's been about 3 years - I came here from Nathan Bransford's blog. I was so impressed and drawn in by your honesty and bravery about the ups and downs of your writing journey that I went back and read your archives. I've been excited about Transparent ever since you first blogged about the idea for the story!

    ReplyDelete
  27. 2 years+ ? I don't even remember how I found your blog or anything like that...but I remember stumbling across it and then I read a post about the writing you did in high school and how much we all said we liked it and someone said it sucked. well just for the record: I thought you did amazing work in high school back then for a high school student! i could never write like that. heck i can barely speak a coherent sentence some days :) I'm excited to see how your writing has grown up with you! whether or not i get an ARC (which i really hope i do:) i'm reading transparent (i have it on pre-order at my library:)

  28. I started reading your blog in 2009 after I'd written my first serious novel (which was very bad). Your agent story gave me hope that publication wasn't a crazy dream despite that bad novel. Came for the writing tidbits, stayed for the beautiful reflections, drawing samples, and all-day question posts. :) Also, you have very lovely red shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hm... Hard to remember that far back, haha!

If I recall correctly, I started reading your blog via Kiersten White's, and I think I started reading hers through that post "Blog, Blahg, or Blargh." Sometime in 2009?

And then, as you know, I went through every. single. post. in your archives. (Hers as well, b/c I'm crazy like that, yo.) Hehe.

Why? Because, as Emily (comment #1) said, you're honest. You write about the process in such a human, humble, relatable way. I really admire and enjoy that.

And now I'm super glad to be able to count you as a friend. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I don't comment often, but I've been following for a couple months. I think I found your blog through twitter... possibly a link tweeted by Kiersten White?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I found your blog through Kiersten White I think. It was in 2009 I believe, when I started blogging. I didn't know anything about agents, and I started reading your blog and lurking because you had awesome posts and a lot of great information. I didn't comment forever because I thought you were too cool! But since meeting you this year, you're super nice and shy like I am. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. A little over two years? I started reading after I found your blog from Kiersten White. I'm so happy for you!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Hey! I think I've been reading your blog for about 3 years now, like most other people I found your blog through reading Kiersten White's blog (I think I found hers through LDS Fiction)just before Paranormalcy came out.
I kept reading because you were real, and honest in your posts, as well as quirky and funny. I also enjoyed your drawings ;)
You are inspiring and amazing, and I'm so happy for you and your publishing journey. I can't wait to read Transparent, and will be buying your book whether I win an ARC or not.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have been reading your blog for close to 2 years now. I found you through my visiting teacher at the time, who knew you in High School. :) I stayed because I am a writer, and I know that the road to publishing is a long and hard one. You have given me, and I'm sure others, such encouragement on this difficult journey. Keep it up!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I don't know how long, but I started dropping by back in the days when we were both repped by Nathan. :-) Congrats on getting the ARCs! Every step along the way is exciting, especially for the first book.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh wow, I know I found you through Kiersten White, and I found her blog a few months after she sold Paranormalcy. So it's been a few years. Three? Four? Something like that. I don't often comment, but I love your blog posts--they are so helpful to me as I'm also a writer (like I think everybody else.)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I found out about you from your former agent Nathan Bransford it was a post of his relating to your journey and all you had endured to finally get that lucky break so to speak, long story short I then found you on twitter and was quite entertained by you and author Kiersten White funny banter back and forth, but it was simply I was inspired by your tenacity and it brought my journey into perspective, I realized I really didn't give it my all, and wasn't taking my writing serious I wanted the easy route write a book, send it off get a great agent then published and then become a famous author suffice to say I woke up from that great dream and buckled down and made writing a second job and telling myself daily to never give up. Whether or not I win the Arc i am proud of your accomplishment and I hope many people will enjoy the book.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can't remember how I initially found your blog--probably a tweet or mention from one of my writer friends. I've been a follower for about 1 1/2 years, I think. What I love most about your blog is your honesty about the ups, the downs--all of it of what it means to be a writer.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hi Natalie,

I've been reading your blog for a few months...and I found it because I was googling Mormon YA authors. I was curious to see if I could estimate how many were out there. Although I am not LDS myself, I have loved so many LDS authors (Shannon Hale, Stephenie Meyer, Ally Condie, etc) I gave up trying to keep track of how many authors I found after a while, but I found a lot of fun blogs!

Part of the reason I added your blog o my RSS feed was because you weren't quite yet published. I'm in the querying/sending out partials to agents stage, so there was a lot here to dream about. I've enjoyed your posts and am excited to read your book...whether I win an ARC or not :)

    ReplyDelete
  40. I've been reading your blog for about two years now. I found it through Kiersten White's blog. I love that your blog has a lot of helpful writing tips and brutal honesty about the publishing business and your life.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Hmm... I have no concept of time on the internet. I know I first saw your blog when Nathan Bransford mentioned a post of yours on his "this week in publishing" feature when he still repped you. I loved your voice. It wasn't like you were lecturing on your experiences to teach the noobs how it is. You talk to your readers like we're all sitting around over hot chocolate, dishing about problems we didn't even know we could have.

I'm sure I'm still relatively new compared to some followers, but I really wanted to let you know that I've learned a lot through your shared experiences. Your brutal, no-holds-barred honesty has taught me more about how publishing works than the entire Writer's Digest collection.

And your blog is free. I feel robbed!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I first came here because of your NINJAS paragraph in Nathan Bransford's contest, so I guess I've been reading for about 4 years.

I stayed because (a) I recognized your query for that one story where the MC turns into a dragon (from Evil Editor, I believe) and (b) every single other one of your story ideas sounded like something I would write myself :-)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I believe that we met on May 13, 2010. We were at Aprilynne Pike's signing at The King's English for Spells. Your friend that was there with you introduced me to you since I was relatively newly blogging (one year), and she said yours was awesome. And it is! Plus, I like knowing what's going on with you so that I feel in the loop when I see you at events and stuff.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh, I can't remember exactly when, but several years. When you were a client of Nathan Bransford's, he used to link to your blog a lot on his "This Week in Books." I liked your intensely honest posts about the insides of publishing, so I've stuck around!

    ReplyDelete
  45. I've become more of a lurker lately because I feel like I don't have anything to say but I've been around long enough to know your love of orange and anime and Kiersten. (Okay, everybody knows that.) And that I'll forever be sad I couldn't go to the MMW retreat in summer 2009 because I could have met all of you for real. And I won two of your contests which really boosted my writer's ego. I can't remember exactly how I found you. Through Kiersten? Renee? Candice? Anyway, I'm glad I did. I'm impressed by your ability to keep this blog so regular and interesting all these years.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Natalie, Nathan Bransford's blog initially pointed me here. It was the post about 13 months on submission. I've since been there and felt so glad to know I wasn't the only one. Thanks for everything. It's been lovely following your journey

    ReplyDelete
  47. Wow, I've been reading your blog since 2009! I think I probably found it through Kiersten's which I also started reading at that time. I was totally new to the writing world and I learned so much about what it takes (perseverance and heart, among others) from you. And I think your blog more than any other was inspiring to me because you worked SO hard and had a lot of disappointments along the way, but it never stopped you.

I don't comment a lot, but I've been meaning to tell you for a long time that the honesty and openness of your blog is something I really admire, especially your post from February "Believing People Like You" which resonated so much with me that I was actually embarrassed to comment on it and say so. So... yeah, thanks for saying things I can't always say. I can't wait to read Transparent!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am pretty sure I've been reading your blog since nearly the start of mine, so that would be around December 2010. I haven't left any comments here lately I know, but I do keep coming back! ;)

One of my CPs is actually the person who turned me onto your blog, when you wrote about having been on submission for ages. That was a powerful post and one I still remember to this day!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Huh. Somewhere in 2010 I think. I was bloghopping on YA author blogs, starting with Aprilynne Pike (her husband went to law school with me), and I found Kiersten White's blog, which later led me to both your blog and Stephanie Perkins' blog, and I started reading the two of you about the same time (your blog is one spot higher than hers in my bookmarks list). That would have been right before Stephanie revealed the cover for Anna and the French Kiss, so. Whenever that was. I lurk a lot, though, so I'm not sure exactly when I first commented. I would love to get an ARC, but even if I don't, your book is on my must-buy list.

  50. So honestly? I just found your blog. From one of your tweets about this giveaway. But I LOVE, totally love following favorite authors so I'm staying! It's so fun to read about the Authors events and what's going on in there lives. That's why I'm totally excited to see what you dish up for the readers. Haha. That's pretty much it! I'm a teen writer/reader myself so I love to get insight from the rockstars. Tehe.

And that's all I've got to say on that matter. :D Other than that I'm DYING to read Transparent. Psst. I even freaked out on my BLOG... (http://bookhavenextraordinaire.blogspot.com/2012/11/hyperventilating-on-wednesday.html)And yay! Have a lovely holiday Natalie! :D

  51. So I went to this itty-bitty writers conference in spring 2010 in AF, UT. I was in the middle of writing my very first novel and had NO IDEA what I was doing. I attended this class on blogging from a cute redhead who everyone was raving over cause she landed this big time agent with her zombie novel. Fast forward almost three years and I'm now a devoted reader (though rare commenter) on said cute redhead's blog because she's amazeballs. And if I win an ARC of Transparent, I think my life will be complete. :)

  53. Hmm ... it must have been over two years, because I found you when I was living in a different state. Probably from Kiersten White's blog, I think. So yeah, casually lurking (and occasionally de-lurking) for a little over two years.

  54. I've been reading your blog for three years now. Found you through Twitter. Adam Heine had retweeted something you'd posted and I fell in love with your blogging style, topics, and, of course, you. Thanks for sharing your sketches, your honest perspective, and your words!

  55. I've been reading your blog for 3 years - mostly as a lurker! I found your blog through Nathan Bransford and I was hooked by your open, honest posts - plus the odd recipe didn't hurt either :) Oh, and also the snippets of your work that you post :) Love those!

  56. I've lurked for the past year :) Found while reading another blog (can't remember which) and stuck around because a lot of your entries strike a chord, both as a person and as a writer. Despite writing in different age ranges, writing is a common thread. And I like the different perspective.

  58. I've only just started following but I wanted to leave a quick comment. I stumbled across your blog after Alexa Loves Books linked to your brilliant post on What The Rest Of The World Doesn't Get About YA. I've been a reader all my life but it always makes me happy to hear of people who used to find reading a chore but now LOVE it with a passion. Even just seeing teenagers browsing in a bookstore brings a smile to my face because I don't see it nearly as much as I'd like. Transparent looks amazing and I'm looking forward to reading it! Proud to be a new follower :D

  59. I just found out about your blog this morning in this blog http://melaniemccullough.blogspot.com. It says "Authors I'm stalking" so I checked most of them and voila it brought me here which is good. Why? well first I want to discover new books which is suited for my taste. A YA paranormal, dystopian kind of story that is I think a great read for 2013. :)) And well the reason I stayed here and check out your blog is mostly your book but then seeing that you're having a giveaway for an ARC copy of it is more awesome!

Thanks for the chance! maryanngacayan at yahoo dot com

  60. I honestly don't know how long ago I found your blog, but I did find it through Kiersten White's.... and I've basically sort of stalked your publication journey since before Paranormalcy came out. SO excited for YOU, and can't wait to read this one. =)

(And I clearly have slacked on my stalking of you lately since I am just now finding out about this contest. But I am still within the time so BAM.)

  62. Honestly? I first came across your novel at Friday the Thirteeners (I can freely say that I was one of the original readers on the blog, when you ladies first started the posts!).

But YOUR blog? Girl, I saw I tweet of yours one day, about how you were giving away Transparent ARCs up until the release, and I saved your blog's link after that. I feel like a loser for a follower.

But at Friday the Thirteeners? You will ALWAYS find me there, because I love the Truth or Dare posts! Especially the one whe we dared you to have a baby! AND BECAUSE YOU'RE AWESOME, you did haha. And then you had pictures. But now I went on the blog and can't find them. I hope it's you I'm referring to and not one of the other ladies. This is making me doubt myself! But wait! You also drew pictures of yourself rocking your baby. So it had to be you. YES. It was. I've decided that it was you. lol

So, I know I probably won't win this ARC, because there are probably people who have followed you since forever. But I'm here and I'll support you and read your books! :)

  63. I discovered your blog there through Nathan Bransford's blog, but don't remember exactly how long it's been. I'm going to guess 6 months or so. I stuck around initially because I like to support my fellow BYU alumni, but was quickly converted to just sticking around for the fun writing and occasional writing advice.

  64. I've been reading your blog since I saw you won that contest over at Nathan Bransford's blog. So...three years maybe? I've read your journey through the publishing process and all the ups and downs that brought and it helped make the process more real to me, rather than just reading about it in one of the numerous books or articles on how the process works. I actually got to see someone go through it--the pain, the dedication, the ultimate reward at the end for all the hard work... And I know when I read that announcement that TRANSPARENT was going to be published, I literally jumped for joy! It was so exciting to read that.

  65. I've been reading your blog since around 2009 or 2010, I think! I found it from Kiersten White's blog, and it was when I first started trying to write (when I was 13 or 14) and since you have lots of posts about writing, I read a lot of it. And I've stuck around! But I haven't ever really commented much. :)
