Character Sketches

Sometimes I draw quick character sketches for my stories to get a better feel for my characters. This would be an example of that.

This is Kitty, Geoff, and Cal from the Five Words story you guys have helped me create, The Assistant.

These are very rough, just like a first draft is. As I get to know characters, I tend to draw them in more detail as well. I have a lovely picture of Geoff I want to try now, since he's got more of a face. We'll have to see.

  1. Goodness, Geoff is HOT! He kind of reminds me of Howl from Miyazaki's Howl's Moving Castle. Especially that look on his face :)

I think I may have a crush on him :P LOL.

  5. *wipes away the drool* Gawd, I love Howl. He's one of my husbends. And Geoff does look like Howl. I thinks it's love, even though Geoff seems like a bit of a jerk right now.

  6. You always draw in animae. I'm curious, as you are writing a book, do you picture it happening in animae?

I always pictured Harry Potter as a cartoon, until I saw the movies. But those are really the only books that I have ever read that way.

  7. Cally, no, I don't always picture it in anime. That's just how I like to draw:)

I have like two visuals in my head usually. The anime one and the realistic one.

  8. What a great way to get to know one's characters--if one has the talent as you obviously do. These are wonderful.

  11. LOL. That brings a whole new meaning to the term 'character sketch'.

What I'd give to draw like that. I can draw a pretty mean fluff bunny, but that's all. Too bad my YA novels don't contain any fluff bunnies. ;)
